International Friendship Day 2010

International Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August every year. This is a special day to honor friendships. The tradition of celebrating Friendship Day began in 1935 when the US Congress decided to dedicate a day in the honor of friends. On this day people meet their friends and exchange cards, gifts, friendship bands etc. Apart from this National Friendship Day which is held on the 1st Sunday in the month of August there are also other days dedicated to friendship like the Women’s Friendship Day which falls on the third Sunday in August, Old Friends Day which is on the third week of May, Best friends day is celebrated on June 8 to name a few.
